Meet Dr. Paul Lounsberry
Dr. Paul Lounsberry has been practicing general dentistry in Austin since he graduated from dental school at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 1984. One of Dr. Lounsberry’s long-term goals was to have a neighborhood family practice near home. He fulfilled that goal in June of 1995 when he opened Balcones Family Dental, and as the name implies, his practice caters to the entire family! Dr. Lounsberry’s greatest loves in life are his wife Sandy and their three beautiful children. They are also his greatest supporters. As a family, they are involved in the community, schools, sports, and church. His other interests include boating, golfing, hunting, and skiing.
Dr. Lounsberry sets a high standard of excellence for himself. As part of this, he is dedicated to continuing education and training to be able to bring you the latest and most effective dental care. Each year he takes more than 50 hours of continuing education courses, and he participates in Lonestar Dental Seminars – a Seattle Study Club. Dr. Lounsberry is also member of the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, Texas Dental Association, Texas Academy of General Dentistry, and the Capital Area Dental Society.
Dr. Lounsberry has had a special place in his heart for many years for the Texas Baptist Children’s Home (TCBH) in Round Rock, TX. He was part of a group of local business men and women that started a special yearly fund-raising event for the Children’s Home in 1994. Every April you will find him participating in the Annual Golf Marathon, helping raise funds for TCBH. Many of the children and moms who come through the TCBH are in need of dental care. Dr. Lounsberry and his staff have always been willing to extend a helping hand and provide dental care for those less fortunate.
Meet Dr. Justin D. Koen
Dr. Justin D. Koen, originally from Amarillo Texas, received his DMD from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts. After practicing for a number of years in New England, he and his wife decided to move back to Texas to be closer to family. Dr. Koen, his wife Sara, and their daughter Willa could not be happier to call Austin, Texas home. After meeting Dr. Paul Lounsberry, Dr. Koen chose to practice here, at Balcones Family Dental, because of a shared belief in providing state of the art, relationship based, comprehensive care that is tailored to fit into the lives and budgets of his patients.
Outside of his dental practice, Dr. Koen enjoys spending time with his family, jogging Town Lake, and discovering Austin’s local live music scene.
Dr. Koen is currently a member of the American Dental Association, the Texas Dental Association, and the Capital Area Dental Society. He also holds membership in the Academy of General Dentistry and the Texas Academy of General Dentistry. Committed to providing the best care possible for his patients, Dr. Koen completes over forty hours of continuing education per year and has taken postdoctoral courses in prosthodontics, endodontics, and oral surgery. He is an active member of Lone Star Dental Seminars, a local affiliation of the Seattle Study Club.
